After 12 African Carryout Reviews
First timer to this food. Ordered fufu and egusi. AMAZING!!!! The person working was pleasant and helpful. We also bought the crunchy peanut butter bars (unsure what they're actually called) in containers to the right of the ordering window. It was sooooooo good! Forgot to picture that but we ate it up fast.
I randomly passed by this place and decided to grab some food bc I been craving this cuisine. The lady who took my order was so sweet and friendly. I initially wanted jerk chicken but they were out of rice and peas, so I ordered the peanut butter soup. It came with plain white rice and I got it spicy... OMG, it was so good. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is bc of their pricing... My meal was like $19 and it could have used a tad bit more meat, but taste wise, I was super pleased! I will definitely be visiting again... PS, I ate the food before taking pics Smh...
I've come here quite a lot over the years. I love this place. I have always ordered the potato leaves with rice and request extra spice. It's been consistently delicious for years. The last time, I ordered Jollof for my boyfriend and he loved that as well. We became accustomed to west African food due to years of working with a range of wonderful people who love to cook for everybody. I was happy that I could get great food somewhere outside of work :) highly recommend.
Everytime we visit we must come here for the fish, ginger beer, Bennie cake and chin-chin, and lastly the ground nut cakes. It's a small store and it's easy to miss, buy the food is great and the people are nice as well.
This is a small cafe that's easy to overlook. I had been to the plaza it's in, and never noticed it until sometime in the summer or fall of 2019. I'm glad I took a chance on trying it out, and I haven't been disappointed yet. My go to dish is the jollof rice, I haven't tried other foods, simply because I'm not familiar with them. Wait, I did have a chicken patty that I devoured before I got home. I had my jollof Saturday, and it was so fresh and tasty that I really didn't want to share any. I requested mine with chicken and no bones, and although there were a few small pieces of bone that did not interfere with my enjoyment of my jollof rice. No complaints at all, and they even included pieces of goat meat on the side, which my grandson loves and calls chicken. I appreciate the friendly customer service, and I will continue to support this business. I may even try some other dishes one day.

The food is really good in this little hole in the wall resteraunt. I had the pounded yam and egusi soup. It was a delicious assortment of meats in the soup. Additionally the soup was spiced well. The pounded yam also tasted like it was made with high quality ingredients rather than the powder instant pounded yam you make with boiling water. Now for the not so good. As good as the food is it's hit or miss wether they will have the food available. There have been a few times I've gone there, mouth watering, and ordered some pounded yams and egusi, oxtails, etc only to be told we are out today. My advice is to save yourself the trip and call your order in ahead of time. Which will help mitigate issue number two ...the wait can be very long depending on what's ordered. Most of the times I've been there there were only a handful of customers but the wait time stretched to about 30 minutes+. Yes I know this isn't McDonald's but when it's only you and another customer I think the food should come out faster. Regardless I still give them my business because the food is that good.
